Magnify

This sketch was for Illustration Friday. I've really been into doing pencil sketches lately. I work on the computer everyday, and I've missed the feel and sound of pencil on paper so it's a nice change.

Nice even tonal work, though maybe on your midtone paper working into it with a white crayon would help make the tonal range even greater - especially around the magnifying glass.

I totally understand what you're saying about the feel/sound of pencil on paper. All my digital work begins with pencil on paper then scanning. It'd be quicker to work purely digitally, but I know I would miss my pencils! ;)

Thanks for the great comments :)

I agree she needs a little more contrast. I didn't realize till I scanned her in that she looks kinda washed out. I am playing more with it and will rescan and post.

There's something relaxing about shading with a pencil...it's stress-relieving in a way :) Plus when I work on computers I always seem to be in a rush...it helps me slow down and enjoy the drawing more this way!
